Chapter 2 - Where are all the open doors?
I finally got a call from Tasdance.
I won't be working with them end of this year.
After having so many doors close in your face (even if they are closed gently), it's hard not to stand in the middle of your living room, look at the ceiling, and sigh. What next?
Fortunately I'll be occupied with WA Ballet for another month and a bit, which gives me time to think about my next step. You know, I'm really open to suggestions. Giving up is certainly not an option and McDonald's is the last straw. I'm thinking of setting up a few secondments here and there and keep moving.
At least I know that they like me at Tasdance, and if another male contract comes up I'll be on the list of contenders. I doubt this will be the last time I hear from them. For all you know, the next time I do, I might have to turn them down because I am doing something bigger and better. Who knows?
I just need some ideas. Going overseas is very tempting, but I don't think I am in the best financial state to do that at the moment. Plus, I have to stay in Australia or it may jeopardize my chances of getting permanent residence here. What I need is a new show-reel and some new dance photos and headshots.
Why didn't I choose an easier profession?
