Chapter 2 - Free Labour

Work has begun, or should I call it free labour?

I have started rehearsals with the West Australian Ballet. The company is doing Youri Vàmos' version of Romeo and Juliet with the original score by Prokofiev. It is set in the 1930s and is a modern ballet. I am glad this is so. I would not be happy if it was classical ballet, and would probably not do it especially since I am not being paid just yet.

I finally spoke to Ivan today about doing the season, and he said he's still not sure because the company has no money, and since I am no longer a student he will have to pay me. Also there's another reason, but I feel that it is not my information to disclose. However, I expressed my interest in just learning the ballet anyway without pay. Who knows what will happen? If he ever needs a boy for any reason, the first person he will look for is me. I can't complain. Full time dance is what I need, and I can survive without the pay at the moment. He was happy for me to learn it.

I got an e-mail from Tasdance last night, saying that they are still interested in me for their next season that starts in August. I'm crossing my fingers and you all should too.
