Warm Up

In less than a week is my first audition.

I will go with my colleague, T, to Saarbrücken on Friday to watch their new show and do the audition the next day. I was told by a friend who is there that there are no full contracts for men, and that the audition is just for funding purposes. This may very well be, but there's no harm is going and having a warm-up audition to get into the feeling of it again. Plus, I've never been to Saarbrücken before and it will be a fun roadtrip anyway. It will be good to also watch a dance piece from somewhere else.

Straight after that, I will catch a train to Mainz to do the audition there. I heard from our dance assistant, E, that the director there has already given the contract to a guy in Hannover. If nothing comes out of it, then it's also okay. Practice makes perfect, right?

I've also been invited to the audition for Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich in February. It looks like quite a nice company, so I'm quite excited about it. I'm still waiting for a reply from Wiesbaden, Osnabrück, Darmstadt and Kassel. People around me seem to think that I will get a job easily, but experience tells me that if it's not meant to be, then there's nothing I can do about it. I don't know what to think, because I don't know how much I've changed and developed since my last audition tour. The decisions I am making are different, but are they the right ones?

It's only human to doubt. Let's hope someone gives me a chance.
