To End Chapter 3
Since my last post, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. I have been working now for more than 2 years as a professional dancer in Germany. I've come to that point in my early career that I realise a change is inevitable and I need to get out of Gießen soon.
For personal reasons, I decided I would take a contract in Gießen until July 2013 but I told T that I would like to do auditions, and of course he feigned being supportive. He never let me go to any of the ones I wanted to. Also, there were a lot of auditions I wasn't invited to. Still I tried, and made communication with several companies in Germany. I want to stay in Germany. I haven't felt so at home anywhere else in my life, and I would like to settle down here.
Out of the many applications I made, I went to the audition in Lüneburg (the only one I've been to so far) with my partner, S. It was quite impromptu, and we decided the day before that we would go (which was the day of our premiere of Macbeth). It was a small, short and sweet audition and the reaction was very positive. By the end of the week, we were both offered contracts there, much to our surprise. (Okay, we were not that surprised, the other guys there were not all that hot).
So naturally, we were seduced by the thought of greener pastures and we tried to make arrangements to move to Lüneburg. The only way was to talk to the big boss and ask her to let us leave. After much todo, she decided not to let us go because we had already agreed to sign our souls to Stadttheater Gießen for another season. We could of course get a lawyer and make a big commotion, but in the end we decided it was for the best to let it be and survive another season.
Two good things came out of it: a payrise, and a new floor for the next season.
The next audition season will come soon enough, which should prompt me to start blogging again. The director of Lüneburg said that if he needs guys for the next season, we would both be top of the list.
