Chapter 3 - In and Out
So like many other posts, I have to apologise for my lack of updates due to many time consuming things and situations.
I am in Malaysia now, but will be leaving for Spain tonight to walk the Camino de Santiago (or Jakobsweg or The Way of St. James) for a month, so I figured I should at least provide my readers with a quick update of the rest of last season and what will happen for the next.
To describe the rest of the season in one word would be: hectic. We had the TanzArt festival, which also meant the end of Cassandra (Hooray!) and the beginning of Gustav Nachtigal. Thinking that Nachtigal was the last show of the season, I wasn't expecting to work so much after the festival was over. My piece, A Family Thing (see above picture), was performed in the extremely hot Til for the festival. Because there was so much to do before the festival, we didn't have much of a chance to rehearse. However, they performed it well and I can't say I was disappointed (even though the technical people screwed up my lights).
As soon as the festival was over, we started working on a piece for our next season. We had a guest choreographer, Philip Taylor, come over to set his Rhapsody in Blue on our company. We also had some new dancers join us to learn it. It's a really nice piece and I get to dance quite a lot so I'm happy with it. He finished teaching us the whole piece in 5 days. We also started some things with Tarek, and also some stuff for the operetta that we're in for the beginning of next season.
The day after we finished I flew to Kuala Lumpur, then to Perth and now I'm back in KL waiting to fly to Barcelona to start a month-long pilgrimage. So don't expect any updates for at least a month.
I'm looking forward to the next season. It will be a little easier because I'm a little more settled over there and I have friends and a little bit of a German life now. Till next season :)
